Peddler’s Permit:
All vendors attending events in Montclair are required to obtain a Peddler’s Permit. You will not be allowed to set up without it.
Applications must be submitted 15-20 business days prior to the event. Montclair no longer has the generic payment link for everyone to use. Once applications are submitted, they will review and then a unique payment link will be sent to the applicant.
FEE: $25.00 per day (Vendors with a truck, trailer, or cart is $50)

Fire Safety Permit:
MOBILE VENDORS: must have a Hood Suppression system and is required to have a Fire Safety Permit for the Hood Suppression System and the Open Flame/Propane. Please complete all forms and email these to fireprevention@montclairnjusa.org as a scanned document, fax, or drop-off at office at minimum two weeks prior to the event. The cost of each Fire Safety Permit is $54.00, a total of $108.00, payable by check or money order to “Township of Montclair, LEA”, mail or drop-off payment to our office prior to the event. An inspection is preferred to be conducted prior to the event at the Montclair Fire Department at 1 Pine Street within enough time to abate any violation if found; if conducting the inspection on-site on the day of event and there should be a violation that is deemed a hazard, the food truck may not be able to operate.

Provide the following documents along with the Application forms:
Hood Cleaning Report and photo of Tag (must be conducted by a qualified company and have present a tag containing the service provider name, address, telephone number and date of service in a conspicuous area)
Hood Suppression Inspection Report (conducted by a certified company)
Pictures of the Inspection Tag for both the Ansul & Fire Extinguishers (serviced by a certified company)
If using a tent/awning provide the Flame-Retardant Certificate
Vehicle Registration
ALL OTHER VENDORS: Using Open Flame/Propane must complete the Application for Fire Safety Permit and either mail or drop-off the completed Application along with the payment of $54.00 at minimum two weeks prior to the event. Make payment by check or money order made payable to “Township of Montclair, LEA”. Email pictures of the Inspection Tag(s) for fire extinguisher(s) (serviced by a certified company within the last 12 months) or a photo of the purchase receipt within the last 12 months. A minimum 5lb ABC is required at all times; if frying, a “K” type fire extinguisher is required.
TENT: If using a tent, the Certificate of Flame Retardant must be submitted with the Fire Safety Permit Application. There is NO COOKING UNDER A NON-FLAME RETARDTENT TENT. Any tent that exceeds 30 feet on either side or combination of tents that exceeds 30 feet on either side must obtain a permit, complete the Application for Fire Safety Permit, and submit the Application along with the fee of $54.00 with in a minimum of two weeks prior by mail or dropped at our office. Make payment by check or money order made payable to “Township of Montclair, LEA”. Please note, if using a tent/canopy between the months of December 1st and March 31st of any size, permits must be obtained from the Building Department, call 973-509-4951.
