Cassie Parker - CassandieCrafts

Welcome! My name is Cassie Parker, I am the muscles and brains behind CassandieCrafts! We are a new handmade jewelry shop that has an eye for unique accessories. All of our merchandise has had a past life; they were once stored in a pretty box, covered in dust, or in your grandparents’ basement, patiently waiting to be nestled up next to your holiday meal. If you haven't got a clue where I am going with this... we're making wearable, vintage flatware accessories: actual silverware shaped into unique designs. You'll never look at spoons the same way again!

We all know how much a stay-at-home mom can be inspired through Pinterest; anything seems possible when you "double-tap" to save a future craft!  My story begins on a day back in September, where I found stray pieces of tarnished silverware in my grandmothers’ china cabinet. My brain started racing and I knew I couldn't let them sit, I had to wash them up to shine! The details were beautiful, the strength of silver plated pieces is just remarkable… These little pieces of history were made to survive decades! I just had to recreate, repurpose, and bring these guys back to life. I was on a mission: flattening spoons on my cast iron skillet and carving into their silver-plated metal, all while juggling my two kids! My vision successfully came to life, a "Pinterest-win" if you will. My first bangle style will always be my favorite. I created the "sea tail" bangle, which will make a beautifully inspired gift for any Jersey native. Here in New Jersey, we're all mermaids washed ashore, and these cuff style bracelets emulate our coastal niche. They come in a variety of sizes and strengths to be adjusted perfectly on any wrist. Through custom orders, I have created whale, dolphin, and mermaid tails showcasing anyone's specific love of the sea. This fun little activity found via Pinterest has sparked some serious sale inquiries and, here I am today showcasing new designs with my medium being variety of forgotten flatware. The bracelets sold quickly to friends and family, then I flattened a fork... and wait until you see what I've done with them!

I am over the moon excited to have found Marketspace Vendors. It's even more exciting to debut with them locally this November. It really is a blessing to have found the opportunity to be a part of a group that encourages networking with other unique artists. My drive is channeled towards everyone's appreciation for eccentric style, especially the locals! Shaping flatware is not an uncommon craft, but what is uncommon, is the shapes and expressions able to image and create. Come find me at the CassandieCrafts table, and discover my way of giving antique silverware a whole new life.
